like so many things you are evanescent
the warm summer breeze blows you in and
we breathe you out with sharp winds
my skin eases to your chilly air
and my mind sharpens.
year after year the fall comes
and fades after too little time
like all the thoughts that pass through here:
short memories that last only seconds
followed by long fantasies that parade around
stirring up my disillusioned daze.
as the sunlight grows dimmer after
fewer and fewer hours
it dawns on me, youth is passing.
like so many things you are evanescent.
tomorrow can i trust my idea from today
that i will love you unconditionally
that i am a good person?
will i wake up, remembering the warm breath
of summer only to find frost dancing on my toes?
will the summer spots on my shoulders
fade, covered by thick
sweaters and dry skin?
i await your permanence with bated breath
i love you deeply already
my one, my only.
this is an amazing poem i used for a school project on evanescence. great job
