Positives and Negatives

Today, as I was walking home down blustery University Avenue, I decidedly changed the way I was thinking. Usually, I look at people walking down the street with a critical eye. "Oh, that dress is heinous! Her haircut sucks. I wish my butt looked like that." Today, I just changed it. Like, flipped the "if you don't have anything nice to think, don't think anything at all" switch and it worked. I honestly feel better about life already.
This has been an ongoing process to eliminate negativity in my life. Minimize the negative vibes I give off, the little jokes that probably hurt someone sometimes. Minimize the negative thoughts I aim at those around me. Minimize the gossip and the envy. I really want to bring good things into my life, positive thoughts, reactions and interactions that will lighten my thought load, and hopefully make others around me feel better too.
As winter encroaches, I want to soak up every last ray of sunshine. Not just the literal yellow orb that is beaming harmful UV rays onto my arms, but the sunshine of people that seems to just fade away when the temperature drops and the snow falls. People get stressed out, meaner, more unwilling to listen. Less open to new experiences. More cold. I just want it to last...oh, please just last.
